Workout For Speed and Vertical Jump, Or the Best Explosive Exercises

Workout For Speed and Vertical Jump, Or the Best Explosive Exercises

A workout for speed and vertical jump isn't easy to find. There are many good and simple exercises that will improve your vertical, but not necessarily your quickness. On the other hand, a workout for speed alone won't really improve your vertical jump. So you need to combine both eleMents in your workout.

One simple exercise that is a must in order to improve your speed is Wind Sprints: sprint for 50 Meters, then rest for 20 seconds. Repeat it 4 times. Do this exercise 3 times a week and you will become Faster and also your vertical jump will improve as it's not only about power but also quickness.

The other eleMent that you need to include in your workout is the Jump Rope. Jumping rope really boosts your calf strength - this is one of the most important muscle groups in the jumping process and will give your missing explosiveness. Use the Jump Rope 3 times a week (200 jumps per session).

In order to increase your vertical jump, plyometric exercises are extremely effective. Here are three of them:

1) Depth Jumps. For this exercise you need a 2-3 feet-high box. Get on top of the box. Drop off and jump back in the Air as soon as you land.

2) Leap ups. Start with your legs straight, then go down to a 1/4 squat position and jump in the Air with full strength.

3) Thrust ups. With your legs straight, bounce as high as you can. As soon as you come down, bounce back up without bending your legs.

Two things are crucial here: the right number of repetitions and the proper execution. It's not about the quantity or how many repetitions you do (which trains your jumping endurance), but the quality of the repetitions. That means you need a concrete workout plan with videos and pictures that will guarantee a proper execution. I personally can recomMend the brand-new The Jump Manual as it's truly the only program that targets every aspect of vertical explosion.

A Jump Rope Workout to Lose That Last Bit of Stubborn Body Fat

Most People Have Never Attempted a Jump Rope Workout.

A Jump Rope Workout to Lose That Last Bit of Stubborn Body Fat

A Jump Rope Workout to Lose That Last Bit of Stubborn Body Fat

When was the last time you jumped rope? For most people the answer would be back in EleMentary School or possibly Junior High. It's actually too bad, because it is a very efficient form of exercise. Most people could easily walk for 15 minutes, but I would bet less than 1 percent of adults could jump rope for 15 minutes straight. Very few people, besides boxers, have ever seriously used the jump rope to achieve top condition.

What Muscle Groups are Worked While Jumping Rope?

Jumping rope will seriously work every muscle in the body. I'm convinced that it will expose your weak links. After your first jump rope workout, you will be sore in many different parts of your body. Honestly, I think my enTire body was sore after my first jump rope workout. I was especially sore in my calf muscles as well as my abs. As a side note I will say that jumping rope will help you in your quest to get super-ripped abs. Your core really gets worked hard since you have to use your abs to stabilize your enTire body to help you propel your body through the Air.

How Jumping Rope Helps Your Body Release Fat Burning Hormones.

HGH is a natural hormone that your body releases to burn body fat. You have probably seen many ads for pills that will help increase your natural levels of HGH. This was really popular about 5 years ago, but you don't hear too much about HGH anymore. A high level of HGH in your body is the quickest route to burning body fat! Unfortunately, low intensity cardio won't help your body release HGH. The best way to increase HGH is performing high intensity cardio for 30-60 seconds or so, followed by a minute or two of walking or low intensity cardio. This is called High Intensity Interval Training.

What Type of Jump Rope To Purchase?

I recomMend getting a "speed rope"...these run around at most sporting good stores. They are plastic ropes without the beads. You also don't want to buy the weighted ropes. Get a jump rope that is adjustable. You are going to want to adjust the rope to an optimum level to jump quickly without hitting your head. If it is too long, you won't be able to jump at a Fast rate.

How To Adjust Your Jump Rope to the Correct Height: Set your jump rope on the ground Stand on the midpoint of the rope (an equal distance between the handles) Grab the handles and pull them up to your chest while standing on the rope If the top of the handles reach above your collar bone the rope is too long If the top of the handles reach your upper abs or lower, the rope is too short I like to adjust the rope so the handles hit about 6 inches below my collar bone If in doubt, go a bit too long and shorten the rope a bit as you get more experienced
Your First Two Weeks of the Program, Learn the Skill of Jumping Rope

Most beginners "double bounce" in between rotations. This actually allows them to rest their core a bit as well as their calf muscles in between rotations and means that they have a low level of core fitness. You will want to jump cleanly in between each rotation and keep the abs and core tight.

Your arms should barely move when you jump rope. The rotation of the rope should come from Wrist moveMent. If you want to increase the speed of the rotations, simply increase the tightness of the circles that your Wrist is making (this will make more sense when you start jumping rope). The goal of your first two weeks of jumping rope is to eventually work up to a point where you can jump rope for 5 minutes solid without having to stop and start again. This means that if you have to stop because the rope hits your feet, you have to start again from zero. You also want to be able to jump rope alternating feet, so it looks like you are running while jumping rope.

A Great 15 Minute Jump Rope Workout that You Can Customize to Your Liking

Stand in front of a clock or timer of some sort Jump Rope for 3 minutes to warm up Rest for 30 seconds Jump rope as quickly as possible for 60 seconds Rest for 30 seconds Jump Rope as quickly as possible for 60 seconds Rest for 30 seconds Repeat this alternating pattern for 15-20 minutes

Note: For the 60 second sprint, you can do it in running fashion, you can learn how to rotate the rope twice for every one jump, etc. As you get more advanced, you will be able to make the 60 second sprint extremely intense. Also, if you want to take advanTAGe of the Fast heart rate and burn even more body fat, hit a treadmill or exercise bike for 20-30 minutes after your jump rope workout. Oh yeah...you might need a towel...you should be sweating like crazy!

Hit this Jump Rope Workout Hard and you will begin to see definition over your enTire body!

Recharge or Power:

cell phonemusic player or iPodComputerelectric toolsTire inflator/ Air compressoremergency heaterradio (incl. weather, emergency communications, am/ fm/satellite)vacuumany 120 volt applianceGPSoxygen concentratordefibrillator

then a battery jump starter is definitely a 'must have'. This is just a partial list of the possible uses for a battery jump starter. One or more of these uses may one day prove to be more than just a convenience, and could help save a life - YOUR life... or the life of a precious family member. There are many of us who would want one or more of these possible benefits. Yet, in purchasing this type of device, most potential buyers are unaware of the features, benefits and limitations of a battery booster.

Some things that need to be taken into consideration when purchasing a battery jump starter are:

Capacity (power output, resistance to effects of heat and cold on durability and output, weight, relative safety)Internal chargers which protect from overcharging. An alert that warns you of reverse connection hazards and protects a battery from overcharging or undercharged conditionsMultiple volTAGe output volTAGes. They can provide power in 5, 12, or 24 volts without the need for adapters.Internal Air compressorsInverters to provide 120 volt power (some of these have up to three 120 volt outputs)Include work lights, emergency lights or both

Ideally, seller integrity, warranty/return policy, and support should drive your decision in buying a battery jump starter, then power requireMents, followed by features. Also important are convenience, shipping costs and/or delays if not in stock or buying online. A product other than the most popular brand can often be a great value (brand name is not everything).

The biggest mistakes in buying a jump starter can turn out to be:

Not getting enough power to start the auto battery in their current vehicle (most buyers choose less power capacity than will serve them best)Not buying a unit with features which greatly enhance the use of the product (heavy duty 4 gauge cables, longer cables, heavy duty clamps, automatic charging, Air compressor)Not immediately checking the internal battery's capacity to confirm it will provide how much current for how long, and its recharge characteristics.

The batteries used in battery jump starters are often sealed lead acid or gel cell batteries. These batteries are able to provide power for either short term high load requireMents or lower demand over longer periods of time. These batteries prefer a slow to medium charge rate and to remain fully charged. They may be smaller in size and lighter in weight, than the battery that powers your car, which makes them a better choice for a portable jump starting use.

Before using any battery jump starter, you can increase the likelihood of a successful result by making certain that the connections at the battery are clean and free of oil or corrosion. Ideally if corrosion is present, the battery connections should be taken apart, cleaned thoroughly and a protective coating applied. Commercial products are readily available. Baking Soda added to a small amount of water may be applied to the corrosion present at battery connections to increase current available for starting the vehicle. In an emergency, some drivers report using various liquids to temporarily increase battery performance for starting, including Pepsi Cola or even water with a little salt in it.

When using a battery jump starter, it is recomMended that you connect the jumper to the positive terminal on your car battery first and then to the negative terminal. After use, disconnect in the reverse order (i.e. remove negative clamp first, then the positive clamp). This helps reduce the chance of unwanted sparks, and is therefore safer.

By some estimates over 50% of car problems are battery related. Battery mis-use accounts for a high percenTAGe of battery failure. Lead acid batteries are best stored at approximately 60 deg F fully charged. Other types of batteries are ideally stored under different conditions. All batteries perform best at moderate temperatures. When an average car battery is not kept fully charged poorer performance and shortened battery life often result. The electrolyte in an under charged lead acid battery may actually experience changes in the acid concentration levels within the cells. This causes an increased likelihood of sulfating of the cells, also causing lower performance and shortened battery life. Sulfation can be reduced or prevented by regular charging to a fully charged state and physical moveMent of the battery, and the electrolyte within. It is common for a vehicle to be driven a short distance during which time the alternator may not fully charge the vehicle's battery. A driver may not notice the problem if the battery retains enough charge after remaining parked for some period of time, to start the vehicle. The more power options a vehicle has, the more likely the alternator may not fully charge the battery during short trip driving. Batteries do eventually wear out, but proper maintenance is essential to ensure your battery lasts the maximum time possible. If you are unsure of the present condition of your car battery, your mechanic will be able to quickly check your car battery's efficiency.

10 Generic Book Club Questions to Jump Start Your Discussion

10 Generic Book Club Questions to Jump Start Your Discussion

You've been all over the web. You've searched every book club site you can think of, but you can't find a reading guide with discussion questions. Not a good sign-especially because it's your turn to lead the book club discussion. So now what do you do?

10 Generic Book Club Questions to Jump Start Your Discussion

10 Generic Book Club Questions to Jump Start Your Discussion

First thing-don't panic. Second-keep in mind that book club reading guides are fAirly new to the trade: publishers began issuing them with any regularity about 10 years ago, maybe less. So B.G. (before guides), book clubs actually had to figure out how to lead their own discussions. Yikes.

But even if you can't find a specific reading guide for your title, things still aren't as stringent as they were back then. Now you can find Generic Book Club Questions-like the set listed below. These 10 questions are designed for any novel and will generate rich, lively book club discussions.
How did you experience the book? It's not always helpful to talk about whether or not you liked the book, but rather how you felt as you were reading it? Were you pulled effortlessly into the book...or did you have difficulty getting into it? Why? Did you find yourself amused, intrigued, enthralled, disturbed, fearful, irritated, angered, or impatient? Are the characters convincing-do they come across as believable human beings with underlying motivations? Are they fully developed as emotionally complex individuals? Or are they one-diMensional, with little emphasis on their inner lives? Which characters do you admire or dislike-and why? What are their primary characteristics; how would you describe them? In what ways do the characters interact with others-a parent with children; a husband with his wife; a friend with friend. What motivates the actions of a given character? To what degree does the character's past play a role in her present actions? Are those actions justified or ethical? Do any characters grow or change over the course of the novel? Does any character come to learn something about himself or view the world differently? If so, what does she learn? Or is the character "static," unchanging from beginning to end? What is the central conflict of the plot? Is the conflict internal to the character (a psychological conflict)? Or is it external, having to do with character vs. character? Character vs. society? Character vs. nature? (Most novels have a combination of both internal and external conflict.) Is the novel plot-driven? In other words, does the plot unfold quickly, focusing more on action than on the inner lives of the characters? Which do you prefer? Is the plot well-developed? Is it believable...or is it forced? Is it suspenseful or more contemplative? Does it unfold naturally, or do you feel manipulated along the way by coincidences, odd plot twists, or cliffhangers? Is the ending satisfying? Predictable or not? Does is wrap up the ends neatly? Is it too neat, too pat? Does it leave some issues unresolved, questions unanswered? If you could change the ending, would you...if so, how would you change it? What central ideas might the author be exploring-the novel's themes? Consider ideas about the nature of love, the requireMents of goodness, the meaning of justice, the burden of the past...basic human issues that are at stake in the book.At times I think generic book discussion questions are better than the ones issued by the publishers. Those read too much like a nasty pop quiz. I can't answer the questions-sometimes they're too specific, too precise. In fact, I'm not sure anyone can answer them, except the author...and even then I'm not sure.
The generic book questions, on the other hand, are more open-ended and depend to a larger degree on the experience of the readers. And because of their broader nature, I think they get to the heart of a novel more effectively than the pre-packaged versions.
So the answer to the question above-what do you do when you can't find specific discussion questions for your title-is to relax. Use generic questions and you'll do just fine. In fact, you-and your book club-will do brilliantly!

The Dolch and Fry Sight Words Lists Jump-Start the Road to Reading

The Dolch and Fry Sight Words Lists Jump-Start the Road to Reading

Knowing sight words is one of the basic building blocks when learning how to read. A sight word is a word that children can read readily without having to sound it out. Sight words also are generally phonetically irregular and used with high frequency in most publications. To lay a foundation for learning how to read it is imperative to introduce sight words to children. This bolsters their confidence until they become more able to read the written word. Definitive research that involved using sight words for reading instruction purposes supports this method. These studies were based on the premise that the English language is made up of some 500,000 words and only about 200 are utilized with regularity in printed text. Edward B. Fry and Edward William Dolch composed practical lists which today are still used and highly respected by both teachers and parents.

The Dolch and Fry Sight Words Lists Jump-Start the Road to Reading

Dolch, who has a PhD, published a study in the 1940s that transformed the method used for teaching reading. He wrote about his theory in a book Problems in Reading and explained that children who can identify a certain core group of words by sight could easily learn to not only read but also comprehend better. Dolch methodically composed this list containing some 95 nouns and 220 service words. He studied English text, with a focus on children's reading books, and selected words to include in his list. When a young child learns the sight words, she or he becomes a more proficient reader in less time than other learn to read methods.

Then Fry (who has a PhD too) in 1996 expanded on Dolch's research and published a book titled 1,000 Instant Words. This book is a compilation of the most common of the sight words and the list is arranged so that the most frequently used ones are given precedence. His research found that a mere 25 words (these words are listed on top) make up approximately one third of all items published. He discovered that one hundred words comprise approximately one half of all the publications written. Fry's list was composed based on these facts, as he worked to inspire young children to commit to memory these sight words to jump-start the reading process.

Both Men understood how children should learn to read. Through repeated exposure to these regularly used sight words, many of which are phonically irregular, new readers learn to recognize them upon sight. This streamlines the learning to read process, allowing certain high frequency words to be recognized instantly, then the child need only to phonetically sound out new words seen in the text.

The Fry and Dolch lists are arranged by levels of advancing difficulty. Dolch's list of sight words was designed to be thoroughly learned and mastered by the 3rd grade. Fry's list, on the other hand, was separated into grade levels specifically for the first 6 grades. Today, however, many educators are pushing students to know most, if not all, of the Dolch list by the first grade and Fry's list by the fourth grade.

Children can have an enjoyable time learning the Dolch and Fry words. Parents and educators use various methods to assist new readers instantly recognize sight words. One such approach is incorporating repetitive exposure to these common words into Computer or board games. This can be a particularly effective method since it is likely to capture and retain a child's attention.

Does you starter make a * click * sound when you try to start your vehicle?

So, Your Starter Is Just Clicking

So, Your Starter Is Just Clicking

So, Your Starter Is Just Clicking

So, Your Starter Is Just Clicking

So, Your Starter Is Just Clicking

Each time you turn the ignition switch to start, does the starter just * click * one time?

That is probably the starter solenoid.

If it goes * click-click-click-click *, and so on, it may just be a low battery.

A low battery that makes the starter * click * a few times doesn't have enough * juice * in it to turn the starter over to turn the flywheel over to turn the crankshaft over to make the engine start ... phew!

A simple way to tell if the battery is at fault is to turn the headlights on and turn the ignition switch to start.

If the lights go out, then the battery is probably at fault.

Course, you'll have to run real Fast after youhit the start position in order to see if the lights go out ... or have someone out there Watching for you.:-)

You can purchase a small inexpensive battery charger at most malls, or parts store.

The best way to use a * trickle * chargers is to charge the batter all night or all day, whichever pleases you.

You can try charging the battery. If it runs down again, then you need to do something.

Remove the battery terminals from the battery post, if you have the * post * type, and clean the post and the inside of the cable clamp.

If you have the side mount just loosen the 8 mm bolt and clean the terminal where it comes into contact with the battery. Clean the parts on the battery too. :-)

Sometimes the battery will build up a lot of corrosion on the outside ofthe cable clamp.

When this happens, usually, the inside part of the clamp and post will create a hard metallic-like surface.

This stops the flow of electricity from the alternator to the battery.

When you use the battery's reserve, it's gone, no more being put in.

If the vehicle does crank, it will run off the alternator, which ain't good. :-(

If cleaning the post and recharging the battery doesn't solve the problem, you may need a new one.

Don't run to the nearest convenience store * and * buy a battery.

Take your battery to a place that sells batteries and have it checked.

If it is gone to where old dead batteries go, then you will have to purchase a new one.

Your 3 Best Options for Increased Lung Capacity

Imagine the frustrated person who says, "I do at least 30 minutes of cardio in every training session I do spinning classes, cross trainer and StAirMaster. But when it comes to going running I feel so unfit and can't last more than 10 mins! "

Your 3 Best Options for Increased Lung Capacity

Your 3 Best Options for Increased Lung Capacity

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to have a bigger lung capacity?

The question ended with "is it possible to increase my lung capacity and if so how?"

Yes, it's true ...

You can change the capacity of your lungs to a certain point. But before I go too far into the details, let's learn a little bit about the lungs in general. Trust me, this will not be hard.

Facts About Lung Volume (capacity):

* Average human lungs hold about 5 liters of Air

* Volumes can vary with height and age

*Total lung capacity depends on person's age, height, sex, weight and degree of physical activity

* Females tend to have 20-25% lower capacity than males

* Tall people tend to have more lung capacity then shorter people

* Heavy smokers have less lung capacity

* Altitude affects lung capacity

For starters...

Because you are doing cardiovascular activities already, that alone will help to increase your lung capacity through your physical exercise. As you progress, the workouts become more challenging, your lung capacity will increase so that your body can get more oxygen from the air.

As you will see, that is the single biggest thing you can do right now to increase your overall lung capacity!

Tip # 1 for Increased LungCapacity:

-Do challenging cardiovascular activities – Start slow and work your way to more intense cardio depending on your goals. Cardio workouts can be progressive.

Tip # 2 for Increased Lung Capacity:

-Train at higher altitudes

Frankly, this isn't something most people can do all the time but it's a well known fact that runners who are serious will train for a time period at higher altitudes before a race. Their lung capacity will be larger at higher altitudes because there is less pressure from the atmosphere.

Once they come down to sea level, they have a larger overall lung capacity for a short period of time.

FACT: When somebody from sea level goes to a higher elevation, they often develop altitude sickness because their lungs cannot processenough oxygen for their body's needs.

Tip # 3 for Increased Lung Capacity:

-Don't smoke

These 3 tips will help you increase your lung capacity.

Why Do Some People Talk Too Much?

People Talk Too Much

We have all met people who talk a lot, who never seem to run out of things to say.

Why Do Some People Talk Too Much?

Why Do Some People Talk Too Much?

Why Do Some People Talk Too Much?

Why Do Some People Talk Too Much?

Why Do Some People Talk Too Much?

Have you ever wondered why some people talk so much?

If you are having a hard time making conversation with people, you have probably wondered why some people seem to find it so easy to make conversation with others. You may even feel envious of them, wishing you could be like they are talkative.

People who make conversation easily never seem to worry about what they are going to say. They often seem to be brimming with confidence and they don't seem to worry what other people think of them.

What is the reason some people can talk and make conversation so easily?

This is a topic that I have researched for a long time. I have discovered several reasons why some people totalk so much. Here are some of them:

Extroverts

Many of the people who easily make conversation are born extroverts. They are very outgoing and they really enjoy being around other people. Extroverts would much rather be in a group of people than be alone. Not everyone is an extrovert.

Some people are by nature introverts. This means they really enjoy being alone. When they are in a group of people, they may be quite quiet as a way of feeling more peaceful.

Confidence and Self Esteem

Having good self-esteem and confidence can make it much easier to make conversation with others. When people truly have good self-esteem, they don't worry very much about what other people are thinking about them, and they don't worry about making conversation mistakes. Thismakes it easy for them to talk easily and freely.

Arrogance

Some people talk a lot because they are very arrogant. Even though they may give an initial impression of confidence, they are simply very conceited. These people are very impressed with themselves and their own sense of self importance. They believe that everyone is also impressed with them as well.

In many cases, people are not impressed with them, but the arrogant person keeps talking and talking because he thinks he is the only one whose opinion is important. They would never truly listen to anyone they are talking with.

Nervousness "

Some people talk and talk not because they are confident, but because they are very anxious. By talking and talking, they can keep their mind occupied so that theydon't notice how nervous they are. They also hope that nobody else notices that they are nervous.

Insensitivity

There are people who keep on talking because they don't pay attention to social cues. They don't notice when the other person they are talking with wants to say something, or wants to leave. They don't listen to the other person and they don't care to hear about their opinions or experiences. Talking to a person who lacks sensitivity is very frustrating.

How can you tell whether you are a person who talks too much?

If several people have told you at different times that you talk too much, it's probably true.

If you keep being told that you talk too much, what should you do?

The first thing you should do is start paying more attention to yourbehaviour during conversations. Are you making a point of listening to the other person? Do you leave space for the other person to talk? Do you let them finish their thoughts without interrupting?

Do your comMents relate to what the other person has just said, or do you just jump into your favourite topics no matter what the other person is interested in?

You can learn to keep your conversations better balanced by leaving more space for the other person to participate in talking.

Mirror Training

I think everyone involved today in bodybuilding, powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and sports specific training today all started out the exact same way-mirror training. When you started to lift Weights, it was most likely to impress someone else and you were wanting to look better. Today, even at ten years later, these muscular imbalances can still be a "detriMental factor to your training and your goals.

I remember the first time I tried to teach someone the Olympic lifts. The guy came into the gym and wanting to focus on a higher vertical leap. I put 100lbs of bumper plates on the bar and asked him to power clean it. This was all after we had spent several hours practicing the jump and pull with a broomstick. His form was all wrong and that moMent is when therealized something-a lot of people can't perform the Olympic lifts because they are weak in too many areas.

This guy had started out just like the rest of us: focusing on bench presses and barbell curls. He wanted to get a big chest and big biceps and spent 2-3 years doing nothing but benching and curling. The guy that completely overdeveloped his internal rotators and scapula protractors, and his back and posterior chain muscles were weak as hell.

I figured at this point, we needed to fix those years worth of imbalances before he would be able to have proper form with the Olympic lifts. The power clean is an explosive moveMent; it is pulled from the ballistic and ground recruiting sufficient motor units from the posterior chain muscles. The power clean is one of the mostuseful exercises for speed strength, agility and functional activity. Most people who cannot perform Olympic lifts, cannot perform them because they are too weak in their which hamstrings, glutes and erector spinae.

I told this kid at this point to look in the mirror and he did. I said "every muscle that you cannot see, right now, we are going to hit harder than an angry Mike Tyson". I set the guy up with a routine involving high frequency training of the "mirror" muscles and the muscles "mirror" we only trained one day per week. The routine looked something like this.

Non-mirror day
Squat
Bent over row
Pullup
Stiff-leg deadlift

As you can tell from this program outlined his upper back muscles, triceps and legs were worked much harder than his biceps and pushing muscles. As we continued this workout, he noticed not only was his lower body lifts dramatically improving, but so was his pushing exercises.

I remember it like it was yesterday, his bench press when we walked into the gym that day was tested at 175lbs 1RM. We spent nine weeks on this program, and his bench had improved to 235lbs in that short period of time. He asked "how come I spent two years lifting and could only get 175? Then when we train opposite muscles my bench goes up? " I asked him with a simple answer "because you got stronger."

Getting stronger is notabout exercising one particular focused exercise and none others. When you progress on one lift, you will progress on another. This guy trained his scapula retractors and external rotators and improved his shoulder health; he also trained his lower body and core strength, increased his nervous system activity, and overall systemic conditioning. His core strength and confidence alone enhanced with the additional compound movements could have attributed to this success.

When you train the lower body, the upper body improves. When you train the back muscles, the pushing muscles improve. Your body is a unit and strength is determined by the body as a whole instead of the body as a muscle group. While you are performing "chest", I am performing a total body workout, increasing my abilityto perform efficiently in all of the basic compound lifts.

After about four more months of this particular style training, the guys had to deadlift went from previous 250lbs to 325lbs. His squat went from 225lbs to 275lbs and his overhead press went from 105lbs to 140lbs. By the sixth month, he was able to perform power cleans like you had never seen.

Those "hidden muscles" that you don't see in the mirror is the bread and butter to your success as an athlete and overall strength competitor.

The Portable Jump Starter, a Practical Tool

The Portable Jump Starter, a Practical Tool

Yes, I could have called AAA, but as you probably have experienced, that can sometimes take anywhere from an hour to several hours depending on your location. My point is that I have realized from that experience how much a portable battery jump starter with an Air compressor could have helped and how it really is an overlooked tool that should be in every car trunk for emergency.

So around last year I started browsing for portable battery jump starters with Air compressors online. To my surprise, I did not find too many websites offering them, not as much as the presumed anyway. Fortunately, now there are plenty of these jump starters with Air compressors online and hey, when your old man's birthday comes around guess what youcan buy him!

So, for practical drivers out there I hope my story grabs your attention, because I've noticed that many of my friends and family have never owned a tool like a portable jump starter. I want to get one for my Dad, he would love it. I've recently discovered that some battery jump starters have the "all-in-one" features of built-in light and power source and inverter!

As you all know, keeping your Tires properly inflated is one key way to maximize performance and gas mileage for your vehicle. It reduces the "drag." Experts estimate that you can improve your gas mileage by up to 3.3 percent with proper Tire pressure. That's a savings of about $ 0.11 per gallon. THE
know that does not sound like much, but with gas prices at recordhighs, every bit helps. Under-inflated tires, however, can lower gas mileage by as much as 0.4 percent for every 1 psi drop in pressure of all four tires. Plus, properly inflated tires are safer and last longer actually. Remember to always look for the maximum psi on your tires before you get carried away pumping. I always keep a Vector 400 amp jump starter with Air compressor in the trunk of my car. What's so cool is that it even has a pressure gauge to read the psi while pumping the tires.

As far As jump starting your car, always follow the safety tips and read the manual of your jump starter.

Also, experts recomMend to wear polycarbonate goggles with the designation Z-87 on the frame that are splash-proof and designed for activitieslike automotive repair.

Again, there are even more uses for a portable battery jump starter with a power source. The portable 12 volt power source can power up small electrical devices while camping for instance. I even jammed on my electrical guitar with my friend outside at a park while hooking up my mini amplifier to my portable jump starter with power source!

So, even if you never have to use your portable battery jump starter to jump start your own car, you may have the opportunity to help a friend or neighbor in need of a jump start. They may need their tires inflated with a portable air compressor.

1) The engine will not turn over the starter motor will not run

Or

2) The engine turns over but will not fire and run.

This article will adDress the first cause. If you engine turns over but will not fire see my other article.

Start by checking the battery volTAGe. Most Jeeps have a volTAGe Meter on the dash. If the voltage is low-below 10 volts, check the following:

1. Fist check to see if there is a cause for the battery to be discharged. Were the lights left on? Doors left open or other power draining accessory left on? If so, turn off the drain and use jumper cables to start using a charged battery from a different vehicle.
2. If there has been no excess power drain, check thecondition of the battery cables. Remove the cables from the battery posts and clean the contacts. Also check the connection of the ground cable to the vehicle body.
3. If the battery cables are clean and making good contact and the voltage is still low, verify that the alternator is functioning properly.
4. If the battery continues to fail to start your Jeep, replace the battery.

If the battery voltage is normal but the engine still will not turn over, the most common cause is one of the safety interlocks. On an automatic transmission there is a Neutral Safety Switch (NSS) that only allows the engine to start in neutral or park. The contacts in the NSS can corrode and cause the switch to malfunction. Move the shifter back and forth while turning the key to start. Often themotion will cross a spot on the switch that still works. The NSS can be disassembled and cleaned or simply replaced with a new unit.

If the NSS is working properly but the starter still will not turn, you may have a defective starter or starter solenoid. The starter and solenoid are replaced as a unit on the XJ Cherokees. However before buying as replaceMent starter, check the wiring connection on the starter and the trigger wire to the solenoid. Often these connections can become loose or dirty due to the rigors of off-road driving. Some people have reported that starters can be disassembled and cleaned to correct problems but I have not tried this procedure.

To jump start means to use a booster cable that is connected to the battery of another vehicle to start the engine of a motor vehicle which has a weak or dead battery. But it is the duty of the alternator (the vehicle's charging system) to re-charge the battery after it has been started. jump And just like regular car batteries though they are smaller, use rechargeable 12 volt lead-acid batteries. They usually weigh between 20-30 pounds so you can carry them anywhere.

Why use a jump starter? Below are some of the situations where you may find them useful:

· It's the season finale of your favorite TV show, and when you switched the TV on, you tripped a circuit and the lights went out.

· You went camping with your friends but you forgot to charge the rechargeable camping lantern, I know you all ended up bumping into each other because it was so dark.

· You were so excited to go boating and Fishing, but when you tried to start the boat's engine, it didn't start. Fishing off the pier just wasn't that much fun.

· You're happy to finally go home after a tiring work day, and when you turned the keyin the ignition, the battery was drained.

· After a severe storm, you want to know what's happening outside your immediate area, but you can't turn the radio on because of the power ouTAGe.

You may find the situations above to be unlikely to occur, but this is the reality of life! You just never know when emergencies will happen. That's when you'll need (and really appreciate!) a jump starter. They'll start your car, operated lights, refrigerators, TV 's, small electronics and household appliances just when you need them the most. They also have a variety of features, including:

· All jump starters can recharge weak batteries but not completely discharged batteries. This is the most important feature you should look for when buyingone.

· Some models have a polarity reversal alarm-this allows the user to know if the connections of the jumper cables are wrong so as to avoid serious injury.

· They can be charged through an AC household receptacle and through the car's DC connector.

-the car's DC connector is designed to Supply electrical power for portable accessories used in or near an automobile.

· They can be conveniently left Plugged in without causing the battery to be damaged because of its over charge protection feature.

· The user can tell when to charge it because of the remaining charge indicator.

These are all standard features. However, there are additional tools that you can buy separately. These are helpful, but then of course it depends on how you'll use it andhow much you'll want to spend.

· 5 volt USB socket

· 120 volt AC inverter

· Flashlight-Excellent for emergencies and outdoor activities

· Radio-Effective item for disaster preparedness

· Air compressor (Tire inflator)-Good for frequent travelers

Jump starters are like emergency Toolkit where you can put in all the items that can be most helpful to you. Whether you are in the middle of a simple ouTAGe, an unavoidable situation, family travel, group camping or a fierce disaster, it is always better to be prepared.

Different Types of Jump Starters

A flat battery is a very common problem. It might happen due to extreme cold or by accidentally leaving the lights on in the car overnight. The most important thing about them is that they can recharge a battery, after which you can then start your car. The rest of the Job is done by the car's generator. Once the ignition is on, the car will then fully charge the battery. Some types of jump starters work only if the battery is not totally flat. If it has even a little bit of spark left, it can be recharged. However, if it is totally discharged, then it can't start it.

You must keep the jumper cables in your car because the unit is connected to the car battery with the help of these cables. These comprise of two cables with crocodile clips on each end of the cables. Join the positive ends of the car battery and the unit and then join the negative ends of the two. The car battery is now ready to be recharged. Remember that you have to be careful about joining the right ends of the cables, otherwise it might cause a spark. You can also take the help of another car to help starting your car. Just join the cables in a similar manner.

The portable battery starter unit is a very convenient device. It can start a battery if it has even a little bit of power left in it. These are small packs that have enough power to jump start a flat battery, but they get discharged if left for too long. They can be charged form any normal socket in your house, so keep charging them regularly or you may find yourself with a dead jump starter when you need one.

Some types jump starters come with Air compressors to help Tires, basketballs etc. Some also have a LED that can help you see in the dark if you want to recharge your battery. You can also use them in the house during a power cut. With a 12 volt battery, these jump starters can jump most cars and are a very useful tool.
